The catch 22 of lifespan, work stress and schedule balance

Things that increase lifespan;

Companionship
Friends
Healthy food
Good sleeping habits
Good dental habits
Religion

Factors that shorten lifespan;
Stress at work
Road rage
Isolation from friends and family (Tom hanks film with wilson in Cast Away)
Hazardous lifestyle choices
Illegal Drugs (looking at people who abuse meth)
Coffee (it may just be an inkling, but imho, people who drink more than three cups of coffee a day look older to me)
Occupations with high injury and mortality rates

The catch 22 i'm facing is that though I work a simple factory job, it pays well with relatively little stress (apart from regular office politics that spill over to the floor on a monthly basis)

And though being in production is easy, I go in for my 12 hour shifts, I can leave all the emotional baggage at work, and not worry about the robots and various sensor-computerized processes till my next shift. If I want a little more money, I go in for an extra over time shift. One drawback though is the rotational swing shift that goes from daylights of 6 am to 6 pm and night shift from 6 pm to 6 am. Learning to go to bed and stay asleep is a rare skill not many are able to retain, and I see my co-workers who sometimes are unable to sleep in the day, just wilt and age rapidly.

Being in the company's flag ship plant has some benefits, we get better recognition, job satisfaction that we think we are pretty good at what we do, and a slightly better bonus. I think. At least that's what we are told.
