Why do I write, why do I read
Or rather,
Why do I write, why do I breathe
During choir hour 6-7 years ago, I sat in the back with the bass section and saw one of the dancers in the front wearing a shirt with the words "why do I dance, why do I breathe". Although the image has since faded into a distant melodic memory, the music we practiced everyday still stays near the forefront of my mind.
At work when things are slow, I find myself humming pleasantly in my head to an orchestrated combination of angelic voices, the cadences giving me a lively rhythm I can find to dribble through the humdrum of my job.
The ancient wisdom imparted through old lyrics from yonder distant lands across the pond, as well as the soulful tones of Africa's children we learned, drummed deep into our collegiate experience that there is more to life than our narrow world view.
Learning the music of the globe, I have been influenced by the muse that would bid me find calm and order in the measured beats, and find my words in organized tonal sounds. Thus gaining clarity in learning intonation and relaxing my voice to give it flight.
To find, the music of the spheres.
